Thinking back over the past 12+ years, it's fun to reflect on all of the great events at which Faculty Lounge has been able to perform. There are many factors that go into determining my favorite show. Crowd participation and size are probably the biggest factors that go into determining the level of fun. In terms of size, Oprah-Bama in 2008 at Hy-Vee hall has to be the biggest crowd. Estimates were between 18-20K. However, I don't think the 15K at the other end of the hall knew we were playing! Nevertheless, it was great to be a part of a mega-event like that. We've also had some parties, weddings, fundraisers, corporate gigs, and bar shows where 20 people stayed all night and danced to every song. The synthesis of these two elements lies in the sweet spot of the perfect show. Opening for George Clinton at the Val-Air, the Cedar Rapids Balloon Glow, and Ingersoll Live are three of the most memorable.
